Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the Manor Independent School District!

The school bells are about to begin ringing again, and that’s the sound of new beginnings of progress, improvement, and young minds growing.

I have a lot to report to you about what we accomplished during the summer and what lies ahead. But first, I want to extend a special welcome to the families just moving into the district or with children entering pre-K or kindergarten. We are thrilled to have you join our Manor ISD family—where nothing has more possibilities!

Here are just a few of the great things happening in our district:

Manor ISD celebrates the beginning of 2009-2010 with four schools rated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as Recognized based on student performance.  Bluebonnet Trail Elementary, Presidential Meadows Elementary, Decker Elementary and Manor New Tech High School will be rated Recognized. Manor ISD improved in many areas in student performance in writing, mathematics, science, and reading.

This month the district opens its seventh elementary school, Pioneer Crossing Elementary. The school is located near Samsung Austin Semiconductor and is similar to our other campuses in that it combines the best of technological resources with safe, bright and comfortable surroundings

As we continually update our facilities, we also continually update ourselves through professional development! Throughout the summer, our educators have attended high-quality trainings.   By the start of school, teachers and administrators will be up to speed on the most current instructional practices so our students receive the best available instruction.

The district has recently hired many outstanding leaders for our district. They have experience, energy, and enthusiasm, and we welcome them – and look forward to learning from them!

Last year, more than 100 businesses, community partners, volunteers, and 130 mentors were recognized for their time, talents and generosity. These partnerships are something we are very proud of and will continue to make a priority. In order for a district to be successful, we must have parents, businesses and community partners who are engaged and willing to come in and support our schools. You’ve been there for us all along, and we look forward to working with you this school year as well.

Your input is important to us, and I encourage you to call or email me if you have questions or comments. I can be reached at (512) 278-4007 or andrew.kim@manorisd.net.

It is an honor to serve you as superintendent of schools for the 2009-2010 school year.

Respectfully,

Andrew B. Kim
