Substitute Information (rev. 09/24/09)
Effective immediately, Manor ISD is no longer seeking additional substitute employees. Updated information regarding substitute employment will be listed on this website.
Substitutes are paid a daily rate based on their assignment:
- $80.00/day for Teacher and RN Substitutes (Pay changes from $80/day to $115/day on the 11th day in the same assignment)
- $90.00/day for Day Care Substitutes
- $70.00/day for Clerical, Educational Assistants/Associates, and LVN Substitutes
Substitute Employee Training
Substitute employee training sessions are held at Central Administration Office located at 10323 Hwy 290 East in Manor, Texas 78653. Applicants must complete an online substitute application to apply for substitute employment. The human resources administrative team reviews employment applications and selects substitutes for consideration.
All selected substitutes are notified at least two weeks prior to the training. Those selected will be notified by mail of the date and time of the scheduled substitute training session. Substitute employee training sessions will be posted on this page.

1. Complete a Manor ISD Online Substitute Application

- If you do not posses an associates degree or higher, you must successfully attempt the Manor ISD Literacy Test.
- Please come by the Manor ISD Central Administration Office located at 10323 Hwy 290 East in Manor, Texas 78653 to attempt the Literacy Test.
- Tests can be taken during normal business hours. Testing hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. No appointment is needed. Please plan on one hour to attempt the test.
2. Additional Substitute Qualifications
- Teacher substitute teaching – Must have successfully completed at least six semester hours of college or successfully completed a vocational/technical college.
- RN & LVN – must have completed and maintained an applicable health care license.
- Educational assistant/associate or clerical support substituting – must have successfully obtained a High School Diploma or a GED Certificate.
- Successfully pass a criminal history background check
- All selected applicants must complete a state mandated criminal background check according to TEA rules and guidelines. Applicants must pay $50.20 for the cost of the state mandated criminal background check. Details regarding the state mandated background check will be discussed at the substitute employee training session. Please note, substitutes cannot work until the state mandated background check has been completed.
Substitute Document Requirements
District policy requires that the following items be submitted to the Human Resources Department before substituting with Manor ISD. Please download these forms and bring them with you when attending the substitute training session to insure your application file is complete. Copies of these forms and any assistance you might need completing these forms will be provided for you at the substitute training session.
