MR. MANUEL GARCIA

PRINCIPAL

Mr. Manuel Garcia has been in education for over 14 years. He is originally from Santa Maria, Texas, a small town in the Rio Grande Valley.

He attended St. Edward's University in 1991 and graduated in 1995 with a degree in History & Political Science. He became a Spanish teacher in Austin ISD for 7 years. In 2002, he was selected to be part of the Austin ISD/UT Leadership Academy. He served as an assistant principal at Austin High School in Austin ISD for 5 years. In 2004, he received his Masters in Education Administration from UT Austin.

This is Mr. Garcia's second year at Decker Middle School.

MS. BERTHA DAY

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Ms. Bertha Day is one of our Assistant Princpal this 2009-2010 school year. She started her teaching career in 2000 as an elementary teacher. She has taught 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th grades in San Marcos CISD and Hays CISD. In 2004-2005, she completed her administrative internship at Crockett Elementary in SMCISD. After that, she went to Wallace Middle School in 2006 for 2 years to serve as a Master-Teacher for the TAP program.

She received a bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies at Texas State University and Masters in Educational Administration at the University of Texas at Austin in May 2005. Ms. Day went back to Texas State University and is currently working on her Ph.D in School Improvement.

MR. CHRISTOPHER HARVEY

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Mr. Chris Harvey joined the Decker Middle School team July 2009. He served in Austin ISD at Martin Middle School as an Assistant Principal before coming to Decker MS. He has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Texas State University and obtained his Masters in Educational Administration from Concordia University.

Mr. Harvey comes to us wiht over 12 years of experience in education. He enjoys sports/excercise, working in his music studio, volunteering, and spending time with his wife and newborn daughter.

MR. JESSE LACHICO

COUNSELOR

Mr. Jesse Lachio is our counselor. He has completed one year at Decker Middle School last year. He is orginally from South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley.

He has been a counselor for the last 10 years.

MS. BLANCA SEEDS

COUNSELOR

Ms. Blanca Seeds has been in education for over 18 years. She has been a counselor for 6 years. She received her Bachelors of Social Work in 1982 from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Texas Pan Am in Edinburg, Texas in 2000. She is orginally from the Rio Grande Valley. She started as an elementary teacher in 1990 and then became a 6th Grade Math teacher at Garza Middle School in Edinburg ISD.

Since 2003, Ms. Seeds was a counselor at De Leon Middle School in McAllen ISD.
