Manor ISD Presents Ceremonial Changing of Flags to Honor Veterans Day

On Monday, Manor ISD staff members, principals, and board members gathered near the flagpole to respectfully retire the flags that flew over the Central Administration building as well as honor Veterans Day.
As part of the ceremony, Manor ISD Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery and Trustee Johnny Velasco gave speeches about the importance of patriotism and service. Dr. Avery asked the crowd to reflect on the sacrifice of veterans as the flags came down.
The Blake Manor Elementary School Color Guard performed the ceremonial changing of the flags. The color guard presented the flags to Mr. Velasco, who is also a veteran who served in the Marine Corps. The Manor High School band performed the national anthem and taps.
The flags will now be taken the VFW Post 6115 in Elgin to be respectfully retired in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.
