On Monday June 19 The Manor ISD Board of Trustees recognized the Hindu Charities For America for its ongoing service and funding of school supplies and vocational scholarships for students. Dinesh Vakharia and Harish Kotecha are the two hardworking leaders of the organization and without them, this collaboration wouldn’t be possible.
Hindu Charities For America (HC4A) was conceived for the purpose of providing communities across the United States an opportunity to give back to the communities.
The nonprofit was founded in 2010 and obtained a 501( c)(3) non-denominational charity status in May of 2010. Since then, HC4A has helped children in need by donating school supplies and vocational scholarships.
During the past five years, this organization hosted Bollywood Meets Borsht Belt events with the Jewish Federation of Austin to raise funds to purchase school supplies to support disadvantaged students across the district. This year, the event raised $20,000 to support students from Manor and Del Valle ISDs.
And during the past three years, this nonprofit hosted galas to raise funds for MISD, Austin Community College, and Capital IDEA students to receive vocational scholarships. This year, they raised over $50,000. Furthermore, each year, 15 graduating seniors from MISD received $500 scholarships, totaling $7,500.
Thank you Hindu Charities For America for your continued support of Manor ISD!
