Several Manor High School, New Tech High, and Manor Excel students earned awards on Tuesday, a week and a half before Graduation Day.
16 Medical Assistant Students and 32 Certified Nursing Assistant students were honored in front of a packed Manor ISD Board Room for completing all of their course work. Students received a certificate, pins, and stethoscopes. The pin signifies that each student is transitioning from student to practitioner.
Guest speakers included Barry Bacom, MISD Career & Technical Education Director, MISD Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery, representatives from Austin Community College, and program instructors. A video was also shown reflecting back on all of the hard work these young men and women accomplished. The programs are a partnership between MISD and ACC.
During the ceremony, it was announced that one student has already been hired for a job and will start on June 5th. Four others are interviewing for a position at Fast Med. The CNA students are participating in a job fair on Friday, May 19th and will meet several employers.
Congratulations and best of luck to all of our nursing and medical assistant graduates!
