MISD Board of Trustees Names Jon Bailey as MHS Principal

The Manor ISD Board of Trustees with the support of Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery named Jon Bailey as Principal of Manor High School Monday. Mr. Bailey has served as Decker Middle School principal since 2015, and he will begin his new role in the summer.

Mr. Bailey will oversee Manor High School as the 9-12 campus in the first year, then he will be the principal of the 9-10 campus following the opening of the new MISD Senior High School.

“Manor High School will need a bold, innovative leader as it transitions to the 9-10 grades school campus, and Mr. Bailey is the right choice,” said Dr. Avery. “I have been very proud to watch him grow as a leader at Decker Middle School, and now I am very excited to see what he brings to Manor High School.”

Under the leadership of Mr. Bailey, Decker Middle School was named a Texas School to Watch—a state-level recognition that the school achieves student success while working with a diverse student population.

“It’s a huge honor to take on this prestigious position,” Mr. Bailey said. “I’m eager to do the work and take on the challenge. Our kids are great and I’m just excited to engage them. I also want to thank the Board of Trustees and Dr. Avery from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity.”

Before he was principal at DMS, Mr. Bailey worked as an assistant principal at Decker Middle School, Manor Middle School, and Manor High School where he provided administrative support to instructional programs, and served as an advocate during student transition from middle to high school.

Mr. Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree in corporate communication at The University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a master’s degree in education administration from The University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Keith Brooks has served as interim principal at Manor High School for most of the 2016-17 school year. Dr. Avery said he expects to bring a name to the board for the new Senior High School’s principal in the summer.
